User Experience Design Consulting
User experience is not about how a product works on the inside. It is about how it works on the outside, where a person comes into contact with it and has to work with it"

Graphical User Interface
GUI defines the personality and look and feel elements for the site. Logo, Colors, Fonts, Icons, Banners, Backgrounds etc.
User Interface Design
"User Interface Design refers to the methods and devices that are used to facilitate interaction between machines/computers and the users."
It is the only way a user gets to know about the ability of your webiste, for e.g. what does the website offer? How to use its applications? How to retreive information? How to navigate through the site? etc.
As a discipline interface design draws concepts and inspiration from diverse fields such as industrial design, cognitive psychology, computer science, human factors and ergonomic research, audiovisual design and graphic design.
Role of User Interface Design
User Interface creates the difference between product acceptance and rejection. If end-users feel it is not easy to learn, not easy to use, or too cumbersome, an otherwise excellent product could fail. Good User Interface Design can make a product easy to understand and use, which results in greater user acceptance.
Benefits of Easy User Interface
- High Productivity, time spent per screen goes down
- Lower Training costs
- Reduced number of User errors
- Low Customer Support cost

Usability Enhancement List
Usability enhancement list helps in identification of aspects which lead to ineffectiveness of the existing user interface. This list also helps in identifying 'most' and 'least' used features of the site/product. It is very important to understand what the system (site/product) is capable of in order to design an interface which justifies its usage.
User Profiles
Only if we know the user, we would be able to design a user friendly interface. Based on the kind of user segment the site or product focusses on, for e.g. corporates, teens, etc, User Profiles are generated. These profiles help us understand the behavior of the selected user group, what are their general liking dislikings etc. For e.g. we would want to know what kind of websites a user group is familiar with in order to understand what kind of icons, imagery, controls etc. they already understand.
User Scenarios
User scenarios are generated based on User profiles. Various scenarios are generated to observe how users use the same system in a different scenario. For e.g. Difference between usage of interface by a first time user and frequent user. This helps in designing an interface which is equipped to cater all user requirements.
UI Mock Ups
Basis above profile and scenario generation, UI mock ups are developed (for e.g. html version of an e-commerce site). These Mock Ups depicts the placement, size, shape, color, etc. of various GUI elements on the screen. They are also used to test the navigational structure of the site for e.g. how many clicks did the user have to go through to retrieve the desired information, can the process be shortened by UI intrevention?
UI Specifications
Basis Mock Ups, the design specification and standards are defined. Specifications define features of UI elements, placement, look and feel, terminology, customisation allowed etc. These specifications help the functional team to develop applications under standards defined. This helps in maintaining standardisation and consistency across the site.
